annual IDEA awards

Included among the many benefits available to Illinois Digital Educators Alliance members are several annual awards and grants that have been created to recognize those members who have made exemplary efforts to bring creative and innovative uses of instructional technology resources to their schools or who seek new professional growth opportunities. Brief descriptions of these programs are included below, and you may click on the links for each to learn more about application procedures.

Educator of the Year Awards 

Each year, the members of the IDEA Executive Board approve the winners of two awards that are designed to recognize the outstanding efforts of IDEA members. Members have a chance to nominate deserving colleagues for one of two Technology Educator of the Year awards. Click here to learn more about this award. 

There are two categories for the annual Educator of the Year awards:

    • IDEA Educator of the Year Award - Classroom teachers
    • IDEA Outstanding Technology Using Educator Award - Media Specialists, technology coordinators and school administrators

IDEA Mini-Grant Program 

IDEA is pleased to offer a mini-grant program available to all IDEA members across Illinois. Are you looking for a way to make your school or classroom Maker Space a reality, seeking a few more devices to facilitate an engaging and exciting classroom project, or wanting to try a cutting-edge innovation that is so new you missed your school's budget cycle? Apply for an IDEA mini-grant! Opens each year in August. Click here for more information. 

IDEA Scholarship Program 

Scholarships in amounts up to $1000 are given to IDEA members in the following categories:

  • IDEA Members pursuing advanced degrees and taking additional for-credit college courses.
  • IDEA Members attending Professional Development Workshops and Conference Registrations.
  • IDEA Members attending IDEAcon, IDEA's annual #edtech conference.
