Scholarships

The 2020 scholarship applications are now open! The application window will close at the end of the day on May 15th.

Please read the information below as you consider applying for 2020!

Scholarships in amounts up to $1000 are given to Illinois Digital Educators Alliance members in the following categories:

  • Category 1: IDEA Members pursuing advanced degrees and taking additional for-credit college courses.
  • Category 2: IDEA Members attending Professional Development Workshops and Conference Registrations.
  • Category 3: Sons or daughters of IDEA Members who are pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Education.

Who May Apply?

  • Categories 1 & 2: You must be an IDEA Member in order to be considered for an IDEA Scholarship.
  • Category 3: If you are applying for your son or daughter, you must be an IDEA member. You must be the legal guardian of your child in order to submit an IDEA Scholarship for him/her. The child must be a full-time student during the 2020-2021 school year.

May I apply in more than one Category?

Yes, you may apply in any or all categories in the IDEA Scholarship Program. However, no more than one award in Categories 1 and 2 will be granted for any person applying. It is possible though for you to receive a scholarship (Category 1 or 2) and your son or daughter to receive a scholarship in Category 3 in the same year. Applicants may not have received an IDEA Scholarship in the past year.

What if I want to apply for more than one scholarship?

A separate and complete application is required for each scholarship category for which you may apply.

What is the time period for the Scholarship Awards Program?

The IDEA Scholarship awards can be applied to educational pursuits from July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021.

Summer and Fall 2020 Workshops and Classes:

You may apply for a scholarship for a workshop or class that you plan to take in the Summer or Fall of 2020. Scholarships will be awarded in May. This applies to Categories 1 and 2 only. For Category 3, your son or daughter must be enrolled full-time in a college or university and pursuing a degree in education in the Fall of 2020 in order to receive a scholarship award.

Deadline:

All applications must be submitted by May 15th to be considered.

Selection of Winners:

IDEA Awards will select a panel to review all applications and select the recommended winners. Final approval of award winners will be made by the IDEA Executive Board. All decisions of the IDEA Executive Board are final.

Awards Timeline and Amount:

Scholarship winners will be contacted by the end of May, 2020. If you are facing a tight deadline for summer workshop or course registration, please inform us.
